Personal Project

From Cardboard to Credits

This personal project involves creating a new title sequence for the film “District 9” by Neill Blomkamp.

The title sequence is designed as an integral part of the film’s identity, emphasizing its values and universe without revealing the plot or characters.

The film “District 9” deals with the physical transformation of the main character into an alien, echoing societal exclusion. The director aims to highlight ethnic confrontation and depicts an oppressive, violent, and bloody universe.

The animation of the title sequence highlights the notion of hybridization and patchwork, with graphic elements glued, grafted, and stitched together.

The elements are in constant motion, coming to life in a frenetic race, reflecting the film’s oppression.

Complete design and creation of the title sequence, including the graphic system. Use of textures, fragments, collage, and photography to give the image a dusty and gritty appearance, dirty and battered.
